Does sailing look interesting to you? You have limited experience with modern sail yachts? You see yourself enjoying life at sea? Then the BSA Start Sailing course is perfect for you. This practical course has been designed to introduce complete beginners to the life on board, to give basic training in sailing on a cruising yacht. You needn’t have stepped aboard a yacht before to enjoy this life.
During the course you will be encouraged to take an active part in all aspects of sailing the yacht. Everything, beginning with the very basics, will be explained and demonstrated by your friendly and accommodating instructor. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, learning new skills, making new friends and seeing the sights of Arctic Norway.

Sea terms and parts of a boat, her rigging and sails, sail handling, ropework, fire precautions and fighting, personal safety equipment, man overboard, emergency equipment, meteorology, seasickness, helmsmanship, general duties, manners and customs, rules of the road, dinghies
Ability after the course
You are able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout and assist in all the day to day routines
BSA Diploma, awarded on completing the course. NOTE: This is NOT a course within the RYA syllabus.
